Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 30, 2026 • Last Updated: October 14, 2026

1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to VAB-CODE ("we", "our", or "us"), accessible at our web platform. We are committed to protecting your personal privacy while providing a high-performance, in-browser code editor and WebAssembly compiler for students, teachers, and software engineers.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and safeguarded when you visit our website, compile code, or view advertising provided by third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense.

2. Zero Server Code Storage (Client-Side Architecture)

Privacy Guarantee: All code written in VAB-CODE (Python, C, C++, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is executed 100% locally in your web browser using WebAssembly and sandboxed iframe environments. Your source code is never transmitted, processed, or saved to any central backend server.

When you click "Save Code", your code snippets are saved exclusively inside your browser's private localStorage database on your own computer.

3. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements and support free access to our programming tools for students worldwide. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies to serve ads on our site:

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Google may use the DoubleClick DART cookie to personalize ads according to your interests.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

4. Third-Party Services, Log Files & Analytics

We employ trusted third-party cloud infrastructure and analytics services to deliver reliable, secure platform performance:

  • Google Firebase Hosting & Cloud Infrastructure: Automatically records standard web server logs (including IP addresses, browser user-agents, operating systems, referring/exit pages, and timestamps) for technical monitoring, uptime verification, and security defense against denial-of-service attacks.
  • Google Analytics (G-3ZFZLNQ9WZ): Aggregates anonymized audience metrics to help us understand feature popularity and optimize platform loading performance.
  • Google AdSense: Serves contextual and interest-based advertising to fund free educational tools as detailed in Section 3.

5. Optional Google Sign-In & Firestore Cloud Telemetry

No Sign-In Required for Coding: VAB-CODE is designed so anyone can write, run, and save code completely anonymously without creating an account or logging in.

Optional Google Authentication: Users may voluntarily sign in via Google OAuth (powered by Firebase Authentication) solely to participate in the gamified Daily 10 MCQ Challenge, earn Experience Points (XP), maintain daily streaks, and display their profile on the global leaderboard.

When you voluntarily sign in, the following specific data fields are stored in our secure Google Cloud Firestore database:

  • Private User Profile (/users/{userId}) — Accessible strictly by your authenticated account:
    • uid: Your immutable Firebase authentication user ID.
    • displayName: Your public Google profile name (maximum 100 characters).
    • photoURL: Your Google profile avatar link (maximum 1,000 characters).
    • xp: Total experience points earned from solving coding challenges.
    • streak: Count of consecutive active days completing quizzes.
    • codeRuns: Total number of local script executions (telemetry).
    • quizzesCompleted: Total count of completed daily challenge sets.
    • lastActiveDate: Date of your most recent activity session.
    • isAdmin: System role flag (false for standard users).
  • Email Privacy Protection: User email addresses are never stored in Firestore user profile or leaderboard documents. Our backend security rules strictly reject any document creation or update containing an email field (!('email' in request.resource.data)).
  • Public Leaderboard (/leaderboard/{userId}) — Publicly visible to all users:
    • Fields: Strictly limited to uid, displayName, photoURL, xp, streak, and updatedAt.
    • Purpose: Powering the global Top 10 rankings and showing your rank relative to peers. Personal telemetry (code runs, last active date) and emails are never exposed.
Data Retention & Deletion Policy: Your gamification profile and leaderboard data are retained as long as your account remains active to preserve your learning progress and rankings. You may request permanent deletion of your profile, quiz history, and leaderboard records at any time by emailing vabcode.official@gmail.com. Deletion requests are fulfilled within 24–48 business hours.

No Sale of Personal Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing or monetary compensation. Data is used exclusively to operate platform features and provide the services described herein.

6. CCPA & GDPR Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including the European Economic Area under GDPR and California under CCPA/CPRA), you have enforceable rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know / Access: You may request a summary of the personal data we store regarding your authenticated account.
  • Right to Deletion: You may request the immediate, permanent removal of your Firestore account record and leaderboard profile.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: You will never face reduced service quality or penalties for exercising your legal privacy rights.
  • Right to Opt Out: You may use the platform entirely without signing in, and opt out of personalized advertising as outlined in Section 3.

7. Changes to this Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy as our platform evolves. Any updates will be posted directly to this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of VAB-CODE following any revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
